Love, Life And Everything Else

Many people think it is a good idea to buy a dog or puppy as a Valentine's Day or Christmas gift. Especially small dog breeds which are cute and sure to melt a lady's heart. So business at pet shop like PetsMart and PetCo are always brisk just before Valentine's Day and Christmas.

However, before you buy that puppy in the window, ask yourself whether the receipent of the gift is able to take good care of a pet dog. Keeping a pet dog is a life long commitment and there is a pretty serious commitment that you are imposing on the receipent of your gift. Consider whether the family and house is suitable for a pet dog as well. The last thing you want is to subject the innocent and helpless puppy to abuse or neglect. Remember that improper or poor pet care is a form of pet abuse. In fact, it is a very common form of animal abuse. A worse case is that the pet dog will be abandoned when it became apparent that it is difficult to keep a dog in the house.

Think Twice Before Buying A Dog As Gift
So if you are considering a pet dog or puppy as a gift for Valentine's Day or Christmas, please reconsider. Be absolutely sure that the pet dog will be well taken care of for the rest of it's life. If not, you may be partly responsible for animal abuse.
