Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is a
form of marketing. SEO seeks to be seen by the various search engines
in the hustle and bustle of the internet. By doing so, the chance of
getting traffic (visitors to a website) is increased. There are
several basic SEO techiques and tools. The most basic is to submit a
sitemap to the major search engines (namely Google, MSN and Yahoo).

directories, link building or building back links and harnessing the social media.
Submitting a sitemap to a search engine
is more than just submitting a URL. The sitemap is also not the
normal sitemap that aid a visitor in navigation around the website.
The SEO sitemaps are a convenient for search engines to pick up all
the URLs in the website. The basic SEO sitemap is an XML file that
lists all the URLs and information such as when each URL was last
updated, how often it usually changed, and the relative importance of
the URL in the website.
To generate a SEO sitemap, you can use the tool provided by Yahoo (site Explorer) or MSN (Bing) under the webmaster tool.
