The Buzz Over Versace and H&M Collection Moved Online
When H&M launched the Versace collection (a tie-up between Versace and H&M), long queues formed at H&M stores around the world, from Singapore to Shanghai, to snap up the Versace collection of apparel, accessories and homeware.  However, it seems that many people buy up the items from the 100-piece Versace collection to resell online.
As with many other limited edition items, many buyers sold their purchases online for a quick profit of up to 50%.  Even the items that came free with the purchases, like the clothes hangers and the distinctive leopard print garment bags were sold at prices ranging from US$10 - $24 on e-commerce sites like eBay and Craigslist.
Over in Shanghai, China, some shoppers even paid for people to queue up overnight and to buy up as many as of the Versace collection as possible (H&M had limited the purchase by each shopper to one item per design). These items quickly found their way to Taobao, China's biggest e-commerce site with resale prices of 20% higher.  However, this is only a faint echo of H&M's very successful tie-up with Lanvin last year. Items from the Lanvin collection were reportedly re-sold on Craigslist and eBay for as much as 4 times the original H&M store prices.
