Comparing iPhone 6 Plus and Samsung Note 4

Apples's much anticipated iPhone 6 had a stunning debut on 19 September 2014. With sales of more than 10 million sets in just 3 days, iPhone 6's success exceeded that of all previous model such as iPhone 5, iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. The most sought after version is the 128 GB Gold colored iPhone 6 Plus. The iPhone 6 has a screen of 4.7 inches and the 6-Plus is 5.5 inches, satisfying consumers' preference for bigger mobile phone displays. After the launch of iPhone 6, Samsung announced that it would be launching the new Samsung Note 4 on 17 October. After Apple reported its stunning success, Samsung quickly launched Note 4 ahead of schedule on 23 September. Samsung Note 4 comes with a high definition screen, improved front and rear cameras, and speedier charging.

Technical Specifications Comparison

Samsung Note 4 has a screen size of 5.7 inches, much larger than iPhone 6 Plus although the dimensions phones are quite close. iPhone 6 is 6.22 x, 3.06 x 0.28 inches (158.1 x 77.8 x 7.1 mm) while Samsung Note 4 is 6.04 x 3.09 x 0.33 inches (153.5 x 78.6 x 8.5 mm). Samsung Note 4 is slightly heavier at 176g vs iPhone 6 Plus's 172 g.

iPhone 6 Plus has an improved display resolution of 1080 x 1029 pixels and pixel density of 401 ppi. However, it lags behind Samsung Note 4's Super AMOLED 1440 x 2560 pixels and 515 ppi.

Samsung Note 4 has the better camera with 16 megapixels as compared to iPhone 6 Plus's 8 megapixels. The front facing camera is 3.7 megapixels for Note 4 while iPhone 6 Plus is 1.2 megapixels.

Note 4 has 3072 MB system RAM beating iPhone 6 Plus' 1024 MB RAM. Note 4 has 32 GB storage expandable by another 128 GB with microSD. iPhone 6 Plus is fixed at 128 GB.

So in term of technical specifications, Samsung Note 4 has the edge.  Note 4 also has an S-pen stylus allowing users to draw and write on the screen and perform various tasks simultaneously. iPhone 6 users will still need to use their grubby fingers to write. For me, Samsung Note 4is the winner but tens of millions of other users obviously prefer the iPhone 6 Plus.
